Laura Linney's portrayal of vulnerable but strong characters has helped make her one of the most popular American actors. Her father was a celebrated playwright, but she was raised as an only child by her single-mother and nurse. During the summers, while with her dad Linney discovered a love for theater. Her first stage experience was first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. The actress began her Broadway career shortly after graduating after which she made her TV debut in the next year. She has been featured on a number of stages, films and television productions since then. Her achievements have been numerous throughout her career including the four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. However, despite all the awards, her passion for theatre remains in her, and she performs as a stage performer and screen.
