April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing guitar and taking piano classes, which ignited her interest in music writing. April Lockhart composed her first track, Different at the age 12 years old. At the age of 14, April was devoted for a long period of time in creating song concepts and practicing her music. In the following months, April started to take trips across NY and LA along with her dad in order for them both compose songs. April began to include various other topics relevant to the Take my Hand song for some acquaintances, including peer pressure issues and suicide among teens. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing following as a lifestyle influencer and is employed by the renowned Clean Beauty company Ilia. The disability she has is part of her personality, but it's not the entire picture. Lockhart doesn't deny her disability on Instagram, but she isn't making it the focal point of it. What is the message? The message? We have many different aspects, that our identities and physical selves are not all that they seem. Lockhart tells Lockhart in a video interview "I don't think that should define my character. My goal is not to be an influencer on disability because I have so much more to offer." It doesn't affect my daily life. It's all normal, and I've learned how to make adjustments. The same is true for me, and I believe it's something that needs to be addressed. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime however Lockhart truly inspires me on that front. Lockhart admits to having gone through phases where she felt uncomfortable in wearing certain clothing styles which showed her arms. She wears what she likes and proudly posts pictures of herself wearing the clothes she chooses on social platforms. It's all a process is the most important thing. I'm not sure if it will be an end about self-love. The same is true for everybody regardless of their level of insecurity. People you associate yourself with, who know you, and can see inside your soul are the most important people to remind you of what you're concerned about.
