Nadia Comaneci was born on December 12, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast and she has the record of being awarded 10/10 marks in an Olympic performance. Between 1973 and 1974, she was the junior all-round champion. At her first competitive event at the senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals aswell being awarded a silver. She was the first woman to complete the reverse double salo of the uneven parallel bar in the event she won American Cup, New York City 1976.
